The Man in the Panther’s Skin is Georgia’s national epic poem, written in the 12th–13th century during the Golden Age of Queen Tamar. Created by the poet Shota Rustaveli, the work celebrates friendship, loyalty, courage, and love through the story of noble heroes and their journeys. For centuries, the poem has been a symbol of Georgian identity. It shaped Georgian philosophy, literature, and moral culture, and remains deeply respected even today — taught in schools, quoted in daily life, and viewed as a masterpiece of world literature.
